Rotaract

Rotaract was established in 1968 by the International Rotary Board of Directors in the years following the establishment and success of Intereact in the 1960s. This new organization was established for young people and men between 18 and 30 years of age to become responsible citizens in society and to gain personality with a leadership potential. The first Rotaract Club was established and approved by the Charlotte Rotary Club in North Carolina. In 2006, there are more than 8,100 Rotaract clubs and more than 186,300 young Rotaract members in 158 different countries all over the world.

The main principle accepted by the Rotaract clubs is; to emphasize the importance of the fact that personal responsibility underlying personal success and collective interest. Each year, two main service projects are expected to be completed from each club, with one aiming to serve the community and the other to contribute to the international understanding. Rotaract also supports leadership and career development. Rotaracts are pleased to participate in programs and social activities to develop and promote their own societies. Rotaract clubs can only continue their activities as long as they have a Rotary club that continually sponsors, guides and counsel them.
